Secret Santa, Here's my List

I'm participating in the Secret Santa gift exchange organized by Ian at The Blog With No Name

As is the case with something like this, I have no idea who has my name. I am using this post to list a few things on my wish list.

15mm Napoleonic Westphalians, Badener, or Spanish miniatures, any infantry or cavalry

15mm European buildings appropriate for the Napoleonic period

20mm or 1/72nd scale Russian Civil War miniatures. Plastics are my preference

Uniformology Book No. 16, Ottenfeld's Austrian Army of the Napoleonic Wars

Uniformology Book No. 29, the Russian Army of the Napoleonic Wars

Any 25/28mm Pulp miniatures

Any wargame related item

50 Years Ago Today

On this day in 1963 I was admitted to Methodist Hospital, having been diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes. It has been an extraordinary 50 years.
It has been my goal to reach this day for most of my life. Both the Joslin Diabetes Center and Eli Lilly award medals for this achievement and I have applied for them.
I have been so fortunate to have had the support of family, friends, and doctors. On every occasion when my blood sugar dropped dangerously low, someone was there to save me.

I'll have to think about what my new goal will be...

DBA Games

Today for our club game day we played DBA. I haven't played this for 12 or 13 years; don't know why, it's a great system. Since 1990 I've played at least 1000 games of DBA. For the uninitiated, each army is 12 stands. During your turn you roll one D6 and that is your movement pips. A game normally takes 30-60 minutes to complete.
We had planned to play a large game, but due to conflicts it was a small group today. We played a series of one on one games.
My Carthaginians line up against Big Mike's Scots.

Sneaky Psiloi move to flank my elephant
I won this one when my General killed his General. We managed to set up that melee so that the winner would kill the loser; my luck was better--not necessarily my generalship.

My Gauls against Jim's Carthaginians

Fun, fast games. These armies will see the light of day again soon.

Red Cross Book Sale

Each year our local chapter of the Red Cross has a used book sale as a fund raiser. It is quite the event with tens of thousands of books. We always attend and this year I found three books to bring home. My days of buying dozens of books are past.
I have long wanted to design a "Rescue the Romanovs" scenario. I hope there's some good information in the book I found. As for the other two, you can never have too many reference books.
